Violent Skies

Violent Skies is the debut novel from Canadian author T.J. Lockwood.

THE FALL OF THE ELEVENTH CITY WAS WHAT SHOOK THE EARTH, BUT IT WAS MANKIND WHO BROUGHT THE WORLD TO ITS KNEES…

In a world over stretched in population and resources, the skies were meant to be the greatest beacon for innovation and freedom. The flying cities were constructed in a time of need driven by hope, and fuelled by ambition. The end results; however, cast an unintentional shadow upon those still making a home below. While the world above flourished the surface where mankind originated decayed into a wasteland. This is a story of a wanderer named Wallflower, a package named Jace, and their journey to move on and confront the echoes of mankind’s past. Out there the best way to solve a disagreement is with a good old fashioned bullet. Up in the skies or on the ground, it doesn’t matter, one can’t clean up a mess without making a bigger one first.

Praise

“Violent Skies appeals to the science fiction lover in me. It’s a book that reads like a literary Mad Max exploration. Author T.J. Lockwood writes in all of the imagination that this genre deserves and delivers the first science fiction/fantasy novel I’ve truly enjoyed in months. I will look forward to more work from this promising author..”
– JD Dehart

“…this sharp and gritty debut novel from T.J. Lockwood stands out in all the right ways. Violent Skies delivers a vividly dystopian world of flying (and once-flying) cities, nanobot addiction, and factions with conflicting interests. The strong female narrator/protagonist is a courier with a hidden purpose and layers of complexity that are slowly revealed as the story progresses. The intricate and well-thought-out technology supports the plot and world, and I found the use of biotechnology particularly interesting.”
