Today is July 9th and our Creative Director Tiffany is celebrating her birthday, so we thought this was the perfect time to shine the spotlight in a different direction and learn a little bit more about the Mecha Panda team.
What do you do at Mecha Panda Publishing?
I take care of everything related to the content, production, and creation of our books/ebooks as well as devise the themes and subjects for the Pondo’s Playground podcast. I guess in simple terms, I make things for people to enjoy.
What is your favourite hobby and how did you start?
Writing used to take up this spot, but I now view it as being more than a hobby. It takes up a good portion of my time. It all started in grade 8 with a notebook in a boring math class. I suppose the hobby now is devising story concepts in multiple mediums, but even this is verging on being more than a hobby…
Do you have any pets?
Yes! I have a cat named Kat who enjoys sitting on my keyboard whenever I am not looking.
What book are you reading right now?
I am between books at the moment, but I just finished Diamondsong: Escape by E.D.E. Bell. A high recommend if you’re looking for some unique fantasy to sink your teeth into.
What author do you idolize or look up to?
I don’t have a specific person in mind for this question. I look up to authors who have the courage to write and put their work out there for people to see. It’s tough, and a milestone in its own right.
How did you come up with the concept for Pondo’s Playground?
Pondo’s Playground was born after a night of wine and music on my living room couch. I love audio, and wanted to create a show that captured all of my interests. I love stories; I love telling them, talking about them, and helping people discover them. The writing process feels like a playground to me, and Pondo is just way too cute to ignore.
